Changes to Ohio Living Will

Changes to Ohio Living Will that are effective August 17, 2021.

The State of Ohio recently passed House Bill 7 of the 134 Ohio General Assembly which made revisions to Ohio's current Advance Directive Forms (i.e. Living Will and Health Care POA).

Under this new law, a person can no longer indicate that they want to make an ‘anatomical gift' (organ donation) via a Living Will. These revisions were required because under the prior Living Will document, when a person checked the box that they wanted to make an organ donation it conflicted with some of the provisions governing the use or continuation, or the withholding or withdrawal of life-sustaining treatment in the Living Will.

If a person wants to be an organ donor, then they should indicate so on their driver's license.
